How many beginning reader books can make you laugh out loud? Mo Willems does it again -- simple but expressive illustrations; text that is appropriately repetitive for a beginning reader and that works SO well with the illustrations; a storyline that carries the reader through to the end. I can't decide which is my favorite.
Of the three new Elephant & Piggie books this year, I think that I Love My New Toy is my favorite.
Jamie at TUFW: Mo Willems has done it again with this delightful book. His text and rich illistrations are hilarious for any reader to look at and enjoy. I love how his characters emotions are so strong. Any child will be able to identify with the emotions that Gerald and Piggie are feeling over playing outside.
This book made me want to get up and go outside to play in the rain! Mo Willems is such a fantastic author who adds emotion and joy to each story he writes. The illustrations are easy to decipher which makes it easier for beginning readers to understand what is going on.
This would be a wonderful story for any teacher or classroom. It will make any class smile! I can't wait to get this book for my own collection!
