Well, at least Mo Willems is publishing enough easy readers that we can compare his titles during the same year of consideration. :)
This one is fun, but it isn't my favorite of his this year.
I don't think that this title was intended to be an early reader. It definitely doesn't have the same format, repetition, etc as the Elephant & Piggie books. Though we keep re-thinking the "early reader" definition, so maybe there are other opinions of this out there?
I do like the Pigeon :)
The book is not repetitive, but it does have lower level vocabulary that early readers could follow. However, I do not think that I would teach from the book other than to show what can happen to someone when they think they really want something. I would keep it on the class bookshelf.
